Our story

A house built on sixty hours of devotion.

House of Gulnaar began with a single potli, stitched for a bride who wanted something no factory could give her.

What started in one karigar's workshop is now carried in over twenty countries — yet nothing has changed about how we make it. Every piece is still drawn by hand, embroidered thread by thread, and numbered before it leaves us.

How it began

From one workshop to the world's aisles.

Three moments that shaped who we are — and why every Gulnaar potli still carries the soul of the first.

A bride, a workshop, a promise

Our founder searched every market for a bridal potli worthy of the day — and found none. So she sat with a single karigar and drew the first Gulnaar by hand. It never left the family.

The craft

We refused to let the hands go quiet

Machine embroidery was cheaper and faster. We chose the harder road — commissioning master karigars whose families have raised zardozi for generations, and paying for the hours it truly takes.

Today

Carried in over twenty countries

From Mumbai mandaps to weddings in London and Dubai, Gulnaar now travels the world. Yet every piece is still numbered by hand, small-batch, and never repeated.

The house in numbers

Proof of a patient craft.

  • 60+ Hours of handwork per potli
  • 20+ Countries she is carried in
  • 1 of 30 Numbered, never repeated
  • 5,000+ Heirlooms in loving hands
What we stand for

The values stitched into every piece.

We measure ourselves not by how fast we can make, but by how long what we make will last.

  • Artisan-first

We commission master karigars and pay for the hours real handwork demands.

  • Slow by choice

Small batches, natural silks and no shortcuts — craft on the artisan's timeline.

  • Built to inherit

Every knot reinforced and inspected so a piece can pass down generations.

  • Rooted in heritage

Zardozi, resham and pearl traditions kept alive, one commission at a time.

Carried it at my sister's wedding and was asked about it all evening. Worth every rupee.

You can feel the hours in it. This is the kind of thing you hand to your daughter one day.
